We are excited that your family will be celebrating your child’s First Eucharist with us at Lumen Christi Catholic Community.
Our hope is that the experience will enrich your own faith life. The celebration of Eucharist is central to our faith life. We gather as a community to celebrate God’s love through sacred Scriptures and sacred meal. We are fed by the Word and by the Body of Christ. This nurtures us to go out into our world and become more like Jesus in our relationships, values, and actions.
First Eucharist preparation is offered for families with children aged seven (grade 2) and above and celebrated during the seven-week season of Easter in the Spring. Children must be active participants in faith formation programs at Lumen Christi or be enrolled in a Catholic school. Children must receive the sacrament of First Reconciliation, offered in the Fall, before preparing for First Eucharist. See our First Reconciliation page on this website. In addition, children must be baptized to receive other sacraments. Registration for First Eucharist includes preparation for First Reconciliation.
Adaptive curriculum is available for special needs by request.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) curriculum is available by request.
All children are welcome.
If you have an older child, a child with special needs, or a child who has not been baptized, and is ready to prepare for First Eucharist, please contact Lynn Schelitzche, Director of Faith Formation.
Sacramental preparation is in addition to regular faith formation programs or Catholic school religious education in which the child is enrolled.
