Lumen Christi Today

Today, Lumen Christi is a vibrant unified parish community with over 1300 households.

New members can join the second weekend of every month at new parishioner registration. Coffee and donuts is offered at the same time for all parishioners and different ministry areas are featured.

The Liturgy is at the core of our faith. Parishioners are encouraged to participate in ministry areas as greeters, ushers, servers, lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, and Children’s Liturgy of the Word leaders. There is a large adult choir, a bell choir, a funeral choir and a junior choir. There are over 400 visitors each week to our Adoration Chapel.

Lumen Christi is becoming known for its educational opportunities for children through senior adults. We offer Faith Formation classes and Children’s Liturgy of the Word for children. Adult offerings include theology speakers, retreats, and senior wellness programs. Strong sacramental prep programs are available for children and adults.

An active Social Justice group hosts speakers, meets with local legislators, and sponsors a book club to promote justice issues and educate the parish in the Gospel message of justice and charity in service to our parish, neighborhood and world community. The Respect for Life group brings awareness on life issues. Outreach programs include Loaves and Fishes, Families Moving Forward (hospitality to homeless families), a monthly food shelf collection and Christmas gifts for those in need.

Community building events like coffee and donuts, the volunteer appreciation dinner, new parishioner welcome brunch, bridge, Bunco, our senior PrimeTimers group and a Christmas event offer opportunities to get to know each other.

Our parish school is Highland Catholic. There are over 400 students from pre-school through 8th grade. Highland Catholic School strives to be a Christ-centered community fostering spiritual growth, academic excellence and commitment to justice in the name of Jesus.

Come to Lumen Christi and check us out. As you get to know the wonderful people, we hope you will be convinced that Lumen Christi is the place you can call “my parish.”
